Former Team India batter has highlighted KL Rahul’s remarkable performance for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as the standout innings of the IPL 2026 season. This accolade was shared via the Cricketaakash Instagram handle. In a display of exceptional skill, the 34-year-old carried his bat and scored an unbeaten 152 off just 67 balls.
Rahul’s dazzling innings included 16 boundaries and 9 sixes, leading DC to a formidable total of 264/2 in their 20 overs. This score is the third-highest individual tally in IPL history and the highest by an Indian player. Despite Rahul’s extraordinary effort, PBKS managed to achieve a record run-chase, securing victory in the second-last over to leave DC stunned.
Aakash Chopra also mentioned Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s performances in the IPL 2026 playoffs as other notable innings of the season.
The former Indian opener also recognized Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mohsin Khan for the best bowling spell of IPL 2026. Khan delivered an impressive 5/23 in four overs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Lucknow, restricting them to 155/7 in 20 overs. However, similar to Rahul, Mohsin’s efforts were in vain as LSG faced a heartbreaking defeat in the Super Over.
Aakash Chopra selects top performers in IPL 2026
Aakash Chopra further shared his selections for the best players across various positions in IPL 2026. The former cricketer chose 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the best opener of the season. The young southpaw was the leading run-scorer with 776 runs at an average of 48.50 and a striking rate of 237.30 across 16 matches.
For the best middle-order batter and finisher, Chopra selected South African duo Heinrich Klaasen and Donovan Ferreira. Klaasen, despite batting at No.4 and 5, amassed 624 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 160, placing him among the top five run-scorers. Ferreira contributed with 317 runs at an average of over 35 and a strike rate nearing 180 in 13 innings.
Chopra identified Bhuvneshwar Kumar, an experienced Indian pacer, as the best fast bowler of IPL 2026, acknowledging his 28 wickets at an average of under 18 and an economy rate of 7.95. Lastly, Rashid Khan was recognized as the best spinner with 21 wickets in 17 matches.
