Ah, the infamous ‘Gaza Pier’ project from Joe Biden—an endeavor that has since become synonymous with governmental mismanagement. With a staggering price tag of hundreds of millions of dollars, this floating aid structure managed to remain operational for a mere 20 days, ultimately costing the life of a U.S. service member.
As the political winds shift and Biden’s media usefulness wanes, it is now emerging that over 60 U.S. service members suffered injuries during the operation of this ill-fated project.
Perhaps the media could have disclosed these figures earlier, but why let facts get in the way of a good narrative, especially with the 2024 election looming? Better late than never, right?
Reuters reports:
Injuries from Biden’s Gaza Pier Exceed Previous Estimates
According to a report from the Pentagon Inspector General released on Tuesday, more than 60 service members were injured as a result of the Biden administration’s floating aid pier in Gaza—significantly more than earlier figures suggested.
This monumental project, which Biden unveiled during a televised address to Congress in March 2024, required about 1,000 U.S. forces for its execution.
However, adverse weather and logistical challenges in Gaza severely hampered what the military touted as its largest aid delivery operation in the region’s history. Consequently, the pier was only functional for approximately 20 days and drained around $230 million from taxpayers’ pockets.
“Based on the information provided, we were unable to ascertain which of the 62 injuries were sustained during official duties as opposed to off-duty incidents or pre-existing medical issues,” the report indicated.
This pier project became a contentious topic in Congress, with Republicans criticizing it as a political maneuver by Biden, who faced mounting pressure from fellow Democrats to enhance support for Palestinians amid ongoing hostilities with Hamas.
This debacle may well be one of the legacies Biden is remembered for.
One of the biggest Biden embarrassments – the half-baked Gaza Aid Pier. $230 million. 20 days in use. And now we find out it injured 60+ US soldiers. One soldier died! All to placate terrorists & their sympathizers in the Democratic Party. Insane scandal. @reuters pic.twitter.com/nPlZnVmMmt

This is outrageous. Former President Biden spent $230 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars to build a Gaza pier to provide “aid” to Palestinians. Hamas attacked the pier with rockets and the media covered up the fact 60 US troops were injured pic.twitter.com/0mPT7POezl

This incident exemplifies the types of stories the media conveniently overlooked during Biden’s presidency. In this age of political theater, it’s intriguing how narratives shift based on the electoral landscape.
