A tragic incident unfolded at a Brooklyn deli on Friday afternoon when a deli worker was fatally stabbed by a disturbed assailant in an unprovoked attack. The harrowing event took place at the NY Deli & Mini Market Corp. on Hegeman Avenue near Van Siclen Avenue in East New York.
According to law enforcement sources, the attacker entered the deli just after 3 p.m. and was asked to leave by the workers, including the victim. However, the man returned a few minutes later and attempted to go behind the counter, prompting the employees to intervene.
Despite their efforts to stop him, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, believed to be in his 30s, multiple times in the torso. The victim was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, described as having a dark complexion and braided hair, is still at large. He is approximately 5-foot-10 and weighs around 190 pounds. Police are actively searching for him in connection with the heinous crime.
