The New York Police Department has identified a suspect in the tragic New Year’s Day road rage incident that resulted in the fatal shooting of a Bronx Uber driver. The suspect, Ehinel Troncoso, is wanted in connection to the death of Issa Mbolo-Isac, 55, at the intersection of Morris Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway in Mount Hope.
According to investigators, Troncoso, who was a stranger to Mbolo-Isac, was seen drinking in a bar before the fender-bender that escalated into violence. Troncoso allegedly approached Mbolo-Isac’s vehicle, leading to a heated exchange. He then claimed he was retrieving his information from his car, but instead returned with a gun and shot Mbolo-Isac in the head before fleeing the scene.
Mbolo-Isac, a hard-working father of four who had been driving for Uber for five years, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident has sent shockwaves through the rideshare industry, with Fernando Mateo, a spokesperson for the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
Mateo described Mbolo-Isac as a dedicated and hard-working individual who was simply trying to provide for his family. The taxi drivers’ federation is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of Troncoso, who was captured in a surveillance image released by the NYPD.
Troncoso’s whereabouts and background remain unknown at this time, but authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The public can contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS to provide tips anonymously.
This senseless act of violence has devastated Mbolo-Isac’s loved ones and the community at large. As they seek justice for his death, they are calling on the public to help bring the perpetrator to justice. Let us come together to ensure that such tragedies do not go unpunished.
