CS2 streamer Mark ‘ohnePixel’ Zimmermann is renowned for his passion for opening cases. However, this enthusiasm has led him to contemplate relocating to another country. The catalyst for this consideration is a recent update from Valve in Germany, implemented on March 16, 2026, which mandates that players open cases using the X-Ray Scanner. This feature reveals the case’s contents beforehand, prompting ohnePixel to question:
“Chat do I move? Do I move? So I can open cases the intended way?”
The streamer expressed dissatisfaction with the new feature, feeling it diminished his excitement. Here’s a closer look at the situation.
CS2 streamer ohnePixel’s hobby impacted by X-Ray Scanner
Many of ohnePixel’s popular Twitch clips showcase him opening CS2 cases and obtaining valuable items. The thrill of potentially acquiring a Gold-tier weapon or cosmetic adds suspense, and his animated reactions to obtaining such items entertain his dedicated fanbase.
The excitement is typically driven by the element of surprise, as players remain unaware of the case’s contents until opened. However, Valve’s new X-Ray Scanner discloses the contents before purchase, eliminating the mystery and, consequently, the surprise.
During a recent stream, ohnePixel attempted to open cases but was disheartened when the X-Ray Scanner revealed a Pink skin. His disappointment was evident upon discovering the item’s rarity before opening the case:
“Yo, that didn’t even feel like a Pink. That didn’t even feel like a Pink.”
For those unfamiliar with CS2 skin rarities, a Pink skin is ranked between Restricted (Purple) and Covert (Red) and is only slightly below the highest rarity, Contraband (Yellow).
Though ohnePixel found a relatively rare item, it no longer held the same appeal. During discussions with his viewers, he considered moving to countries like the UK, USA, or India to avoid the X-Ray Scanner imposed by Valve in Germany.
