Alysa Liu, the figure skater set to compete in the 2025 World Championship, has decided to change her program music following a disturbing investigation into the death of a 15-year-old girl discovered in a car associated with singer D4vd.
“As many of you may know, I recently introduced a new short program for the ’25-’26 season,” Liu, 20, shared in a post on Instagram this Wednesday.
“However, considering the recent developments, my team and I are opting for a new direction that resonates with my values and overall principles,” Liu stated.
“I’m excited to start brainstorming fresh concepts, and I want to make sure my creative process is not rushed. In the meantime, you may see some familiar routines. Thank you for your continued support!”
The Oakland, California native had intended to perform to “This is How it Feels” by D4vd alongside Icelandic artist Laufey in her short program leading up to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
Fans of the esteemed skater commended Liu’s choice to remove the song from her performance.
“Thank you for taking a stand for what is right,” one supporter commented.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s mutilated remains were discovered more than two weeks ago in the trunk of a Tesla sedan located in an impound lot in Hollywood Hills, a vehicle registered to the singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Rivas had been reported missing from Lake Elsinor, California, in 2024, as her mother informed TMZ.
Her decomposed body was discovered wrapped in plastic and initially alerted to authorities because the car began to emit a “foul odor.”
Rivas was found just a day after her 15th birthday, indicating she was likely only 14 at the time of her death due to the condition of her remains, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“As you may know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the victim found last week,” said organizers Esmeralda Lozano and Gisel Vera in a GoFundMe created for her family.
“She was a cherished daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.”
The remains of the teenager were recently handed over to her family for funeral arrangements, as TMZ reported.
Authorities have not yet named Burke, 20, as a suspect, but they have conducted searches of the Hollywood Hills residence where the alt R&B musician had been residing.
Burke has since canceled the remainder of his world tour amid the serious ongoing investigation.
