Tragedy struck a farm near Millers Flat, Central Otago, as a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of one individual last night. Emergency services responded to the scene around 10pm, following reports of the vehicle overturning.
A Police spokesperson confirmed the unfortunate fatality, stating, “Sadly, one person lost their life in the accident. Three others sustained minor-to-moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.”
Reports suggest that some of the occupants involved in the crash were children; however, the deceased individual was not a child.
Authorities have clarified that the incident was unrelated to the hunting competition held in Central Otago during the Matariki weekend.
Police have assured that the victim’s family will receive the necessary support during this difficult time. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the tragic crash.
