ONE Fight Night 41 on March 13 marked the final appearance of ‘Supergirl’ Anna Jaroonsak in the ring.

The beloved Thai fighter announced her retirement following a surprising first-round TKO defeat by Yu Yau Pui from Hong Kong in a women’s atomweight Muay Thai match at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

‘Supergirl’ had been away from the ring for a while, addressing personal matters. Her intended return last year was postponed due to a missed weight cut.

Despite overcoming these challenges and stepping into the ring once more with Yu, the 22-year-old did not achieve the desired outcome.

Initially, ‘Supergirl’ displayed her signature spear knees, but she struggled with Yu’s rapid pace and flurry of punches.

A decisive left hook to the body ended the fight just 75 seconds into the first round.

To the astonishment of the Thai supporters, ‘Supergirl’ removed her gloves in the ring, symbolizing her departure from ‘The Art of Eight Limbs’.

An emotional ‘Supergirl’ shared her thoughts with Mitch Chilson about her choice to retire:

“Yes, in this fight, I try to come back and be the same Supergirl that everyone remembers. There are a lot of things that happened in my personal life at the moment, but we will leave that behind, because I don’t want to say it right here, right now. I want to be the same smiling Supergirl who fights and entertains everyone, and I try my best to do that.”

‘Supergirl’ says there’s no excuses after first-round loss to Yu Yau Pui

Despite the challenges in her life, ‘Supergirl’ Anna Jaroonsak emphasized that she does not wish to detract from Yu Yau Pui’s success.

Simply stated, the Hongkonger proved to be the superior fighter at ONE Fight Night 41.

“Yes, this fight, I fought my best, but I’ve been away from the ring for a long time, and I have an injury as well. I don’t want to make any excuses, but kudos to my opponent. She’s very tough. I’ve tried to come back here to be the Supergirl that everyone remembers,” she told Mitch Chilson via translator.

ONE Fight Night 41 is available to watch on demand on Prime Video for subscribers in North America.
