Police in northeast Colorado Springs shot and injured a woman on Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly pointed a gun at officers during a domestic disturbance, according to officials.

Authorities responded to a call from a resident in the 5600 block of Buckskin Pass Drive around 2:58 p.m. The caller reported that his ex-girlfriend was aggressively knocking on the doorbell. The Colorado Springs Police Department stated in a social media post on X that the woman was known to carry a gun, and as officers tried to approach her, she brandished the weapon at them. Subsequently, an officer fired at her.

The woman received immediate medical attention and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals or officers were harmed during the incident.

The officers who were involved have been placed on administrative leave. The police department did not disclose the number of officers involved, and a spokesperson was unavailable for further comment at the time of reporting.

This is an ongoing story and updates may follow.
