The OnePlus 13 is making waves as one of the most ambitious flagship smartphones from the company to date. With a strong focus on the camera system, OnePlus has once again partnered with renowned camera brand Hasselblad to elevate the imaging capabilities of the device. Building upon the sensor setup introduced in the OnePlus 12, the OnePlus 13 boasts new algorithms to address issues like motion blur, improved versatility in portrait mode and video capture, and an upgraded AI image editing toolset.

The main camera system of the OnePlus 13 features a 50Mp Sony sensor with pixel binning technology for enhanced image quality. The ultrawide and telephoto lenses also sport 50Mp sensors, offering a versatile photography experience. Notably, the telephoto lens on the OnePlus 13 utilizes a unique triprism design, allowing for a larger sensor in a compact form factor. The front camera, powered by a 32Mp sensor, delivers high-quality selfies with the help of Hasselblad’s image tuning and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The collaboration with Hasselblad extends to the camera features of the OnePlus 13, with the ‘5th-Gen Hasselblad Camera for Mobile’ offering advanced modes like Master Mode and XPan mode. The portrait mode now supports magnifications up to 3x, mimicking the bokeh of Hasselblad lenses. Action Mode leverages a Dual Exposure Algorithm for capturing fast-moving subjects with clarity, while Clear Burst ensures bright and crisp images in burst mode.

In terms of general shooting samples, the OnePlus 13 excels in maintaining contrast and detail, resulting in compelling and authentic imagery. The color accuracy and skin tones are commendable, although there may be a slight loss of saturation in greens in high-contrast scenes. Portrait mode delivers pleasant results with good skin tones, but edge detection can be improved for a more refined bokeh effect.

Macro photography on the OnePlus 13 showcases improved color accuracy and pleasing results, with the ultrawide lens enabling close-up shots of small subjects. In low light conditions, the device performs well in preserving colors and managing exposure, with the night mode enhancing details in dark areas. Selfies taken with the front camera exhibit heavy processing for a more pronounced look, while AI image editing tools like AI Eraser and reflection removal add versatility to the photography experience.

Overall, the OnePlus 13 offers a solid camera system with innovative features and enhancements. While it may not be the absolute best in the market, the device delivers a satisfying photography experience with authentic results and advanced shooting capabilities. Fans of OnePlus will appreciate the improvements in imaging technology and the integration of new AI features in OxygenOS 15.
