The upcoming OnePlus 15 flagship smartphone is set to bring a fresh new look compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, according to a recent rumor making the rounds.
Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station recently took to Chinese social network Weibo to share some intriguing details about the highly anticipated OnePlus 15.
It is said that the OnePlus 15 will do away with the brand’s signature large circular camera module, which has been a prominent feature on OnePlus flagship devices since the OnePlus 11.
Instead, the OnePlus 15 is rumored to sport a “small square matrix in the upper left corner” as its camera design. While the translation may be a bit rough, it appears that OnePlus is opting for a smaller and square camera setup for its upcoming device.
It seems likely that OnePlus will draw inspiration from the camera module design seen on the OnePlus 13T and OnePlus 13s, which adopted a squircle shape reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone.
OnePlus 15 could be a different beast
Earlier reports from June hinted at potential changes in the OnePlus 15 specifications, raising concerns about two possible downgrades.
One of these changes involves the display, which is said to feature a 1.5K resolution instead of the 4K screen found on the OnePlus 13. Additionally, the display will be completely flat, departing from the curved design of its predecessor. Whether this can be considered a downgrade is up for debate.
Another rumored downgrade pertains to the camera system, which might no longer include the collaboration with Hasselblad that OnePlus has been known for. The partnership with Hasselblad has brought distinctive color enhancements and UI refinements to recent OnePlus flagship devices, making it a loss if it is indeed discontinued.
