Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 13-Year-Old in Springfield Gardens

The 16-year-old suspected shooter, identified as Jaysohn Sykes, will remain in custody following charges of murder and weapon possession related to the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy outside a Dunkin’ Donuts in Queens. A judge in Queens ruled against granting bail, indicating the severity of the charges.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, Sykes faces second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges for allegedly shooting Sanjay Samuel in the head during a violent altercation early Monday morning.

The alleged gunman, Jaysohn Sykes, known by the moniker “Flex,” was ordered to remain in custody without bail.
Sanjay Samuel, only 13 years old, tragically lost his life after being shot outside a local Dunkin’ Donuts in Springfield Gardens.

Details of the event reveal that the shooting took place around 8:20 a.m., allegedly during a gang-related dispute, as reported by police sources.

After the incident, Sykes turned himself into authorities at the 105th Precinct in Queens Village, where he was promptly arraigned.
