Okelawal’s latest collection, titled “Backyards of Memory,” is a joyful ode to his late mother, who passed away from cancer in 2024. Reflecting on their relationship, he draws inspiration from the warm and vivid memories of his childhood spent in the backyard of their family home in Nigeria. This collection serves as a celebration of life, love, and the beauty found in simplicity.
Transporting us to a world of vibrant hues and soft textures, Okelawal’s designs evoke the essence of his childhood memories. From delicate shirts and flowing dresses to bold tailoring and sculptural elements, each piece tells a story of joy, freedom, and bonding.
