The Oura Ring Gen 3 may not be the latest model on the market, but it still offers a lot of the same features as the newer Oura Ring 4 at discounted prices. Both smart rings provide users with a range of advanced capabilities wrapped up in an attractive design, making them some of the best options in the smart ring market.

When it comes to design and build, both the Oura Ring Gen 3 and the Oura Ring 4 are stylish and visually appealing. The Ring 4 offers more size options, especially for those with larger fingers. While the Ring 4 boasts a fully circular design, the Gen 3 comes in heritage and horizon designs, each offering a unique aesthetic. Both rings are primarily made from titanium, with the Ring 4 featuring a more discreet sensor array for a comfortable fit.

In terms of specs and performance, both rings track essential metrics such as sleep, steps, stress, heart rate, temperature, and exercise. They also offer access to features like Oura’s Symptom Radar and experiments to help users improve their habits. The Ring 4’s improved sensor platform provides more reliable heart rate tracking during daily activities and sleep, thanks to a sensor setup that compensates for movement. Both rings struggle with tracking heart rate during high-intensity exercise but can be connected to other health platforms like Apple Health and Strava.

When it comes to battery life, the Oura Ring Gen 3 promises up to 7 days, while the Ring 4 offers up to 8 days. However, actual battery life depends on factors like ring size and usage of power-intensive features like blood oxygen tracking. The Ring 4 generally performs better in terms of battery life but still falls slightly short of the maximum advertised time.

Other key differences between the two rings include slight variations in thickness and weight, with the Ring Gen 3 being slightly thinner and heavier than the Ring 4. Despite these differences, both rings offer a comfortable wearing experience.

In terms of price and availability, the Oura Ring 4 is priced starting at ÂŁ349/$349, while the Gen 3 starts at ÂŁ199/$199. Subscription fees are also applicable for both models. The Gen 3 can be purchased for roughly $150/ÂŁ150 less than the Ring 4, making it a more affordable option for those looking to experience the benefits of an Oura smart ring.

Ultimately, the choice between the Oura Ring Gen 3 and the Oura Ring 4 comes down to personal preference and budget. The Gen 3 still holds its own with its attractive design and performance, while the Ring 4 offers upgrades in areas like battery life and heart rate monitoring. If budget is a concern, the Gen 3 is a great option, but for those seeking the latest features and technology, the Ring 4 is the way to go.
