An Invercargill man has combined his love for computers with a nostalgic feeling from his teenage years to launch a new business in town.

Ray Luck, who moved to Invercargill from the UK at the age of 5, has always been fascinated by computers and technology. Growing up in Southland, he often felt isolated due to limited access to games and computer parts.

Reflecting on his childhood, Luck shared, “I’ve been tinkering with computers since I was a kid, much to my parents’ dismay. I always wished there was a PC shop in town to make things easier.”

Despite his passion for technology, Luck found a lack of opportunities for young people like him in the community. His observations during his retail job over the past decade reinforced this belief.

Driven by his vision of creating a welcoming space for gamers and tech enthusiasts, Luck opened Orion PCs in the Connections Arcade, offering a safe environment for gaming, socializing, and computer repairs.

At Orion PCs, customers of all ages can enjoy gaming, connect with others, and have their PCs serviced. Luck plans to organize gaming competitions and eventually provide PC building classes to establish the business as a hub for tech enthusiasts.

The store, operating from Wednesday to Sunday, aims to bridge the gap for individuals seeking a supportive community and reliable tech services in Invercargill.
