Peacock has acquired the rights to develop a series based on the novel “The Accomplice,” starring Taraji P. Henson. The novel, written by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Aaron Phillip Clark, was published in 2024. Jackson will serve as executive producer through G-Unit Films and Television, while Henson will executive produce and star in the series under her TPH Entertainment banner. The project is currently in development with UCP producing, although no writer has been attached yet.

In an interview with “The Breakfast Club” in October, Jackson discussed the project and Henson’s casting. The series will follow Nia Adams, played by Henson, a Texas Ranger pursuing master thief Desmond Bell as he targets one of America’s wealthiest families. As Nia gets closer to capturing Bell, she discovers a conspiracy that forces her to decide between revealing the truth and protecting the system she vowed to uphold.

If “The Accomplice” is picked up for a full series, it will be Henson’s second show on Peacock. She previously appeared in the star-studded drama “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” alongside Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, and Terrence Howard.

Henson, a highly acclaimed actress, has received critical acclaim for her performances in films such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Hidden Figures,” “Hustle & Flow,” and “The Color Purple.” She is also known for her roles in the TV series “Empire,” for which she received Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win. Henson is represented by IAG, M88, and Lichter Grossman.

On the other hand, Jackson is best known for his work on the popular “Power” franchise on Starz. He is currently involved in multiple projects, including the final season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” and the upcoming “Power Book IV: Force.” Additionally, he is executive producing the boxing drama “Fightland” and has several other scripted series, docuseries, and films in development across various platforms. Jackson will also appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as Balrog and is represented by IAG and Savva Entertainment.

Overall, the series adaptation of “The Accomplice” promises to be a thrilling and action-packed addition to Peacock’s lineup, with Henson and Jackson at the helm bringing their talent and expertise to the project. Fans can expect an exciting and captivating story that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
