An unfortunate incident occurred in Aurora on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing the street, as reported by the Aurora Police Department.
The pedestrian, a 43-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, was walking west across Peoria Street at East Colfax Avenue, outside of the designated crosswalk, when the collision took place just before 11 p.m. The man was also crossing against the traffic signal at the time of the accident, with the white Ford SUV that struck him having a green light while driving south on Peoria Street.
Despite being promptly taken to the hospital by paramedics, the man succumbed to his injuries. The Adams County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for identifying him.
According to the Aurora Police Department, speed and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash. As of Sunday evening, it was stated that no charges were anticipated to be filed in relation to the incident, unless further details are uncovered during the investigation or scene reconstruction.
