Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro reveals Trump called him to discuss arson attack: ‘Very gracious’
SHARE

Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro recently shared that President Trump reached out to him to inquire about his family’s well-being following an arson attack on the governor’s residence earlier this month. The governor expressed his gratitude for the president’s call during a press conference at the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Harrisburg.

Shapiro revealed that he initially missed Trump’s call as it came from an unfamiliar number. However, upon listening to the voicemail, he promptly returned the call. The two leaders had a conversation lasting over 15 minutes, during which they discussed various topics, including the arson incident that forced Shapiro, his family, guests, and pets to evacuate the building in the early hours of the morning.

The governor mentioned that Trump showed concern for his wife, Lori, and their four children, who were asleep when Molotov cocktails were thrown into the residence, causing a significant fire. Shapiro appreciated the president’s graciousness and the genuine interest he showed in his family’s well-being.

While Shapiro did not divulge the specifics of their conversation, he noted that they touched on a range of subjects important to both of them. The governor emphasized their mutual agreement to stay connected and continue discussions on relevant issues in the future.

The alleged perpetrator of the arson attack, Cody Balmer, faces charges of arson, attempted murder, terrorism, and other offenses. Balmer reportedly made anti-Semitic remarks during a 911 call confessing to the attack, referencing Shapiro’s supposed stance on the Palestinian people. Authorities are investigating whether the incident was motivated by hate, considering the governor’s Jewish background.

As the investigation progresses, prosecutors are contemplating adding hate crime charges to Balmer’s charges. The incident has raised concerns about the impact of anti-Semitism and the need to address such acts of violence. Shapiro and Trump’s conversation highlighted the importance of unity and vigilance in combating hate crimes and promoting safety and security for all individuals.
