The Pima County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the FBI, has taken an individual into custody for questioning regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie. As reported by ABC News, the detainee was apprehended south of Tucson, Arizona, and law enforcement is preparing to conduct a search at a specific location linked to the detainee. It remains unclear whether the detainee is the person captured in the front door images released earlier.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, went missing from her Arizona residence on January 31, prompting an extensive investigation that has thrust Savannah Guthrie’s personal ordeal into the public spotlight.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office officially classified the disappearance as a crime on February 2 after discovering unsettling evidence at Nancy’s home. Sheriff Chris Nanos stated his belief that Nancy did not leave of her own volition. Despite no identified suspects, authorities received an alleged ransom note with deadlines set for February 6 and February 9.

Savannah took to Instagram on Monday to share a heartfelt message as the search for her missing mother entered its second week. She expressed a sense of desperation in the video message.

Former co-anchor Hoda Kotb returned to the “Today” show on Monday, standing in for Savannah alongside Craig Melvin while Savannah remained with her family in Arizona. Kotb emphasized the show’s familial bond, stating, “We are a family, and we show up for each other.”

The FBI announced a $50,000 reward on Thursday for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her disappearance. FBI Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke affirmed that agents are tirelessly collaborating with local authorities.

On Saturday, the Guthrie siblings released another video expressing their willingness to pay a ransom. Savannah, together with siblings Camron and Annie, appealed for their mother’s safe return. They emphasized the value of their mother and their willingness to cooperate.

In a poignant Instagram video shared on Wednesday, the siblings implored for proof of life, citing Nancy’s fragile health at 84 years old. Savannah stressed the crucial need for confirmation of her mother’s well-being and urged the individuals holding Nancy to provide reassurance.

The Guthrie family’s emotional plea and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement underscore the urgency and gravity of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, as the community rallies together to support Savannah and her family during this challenging time.
