Dr. Peter Attia, a well-known author, health influencer, and celebrity doctor, recently found himself in hot water due to his connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a lengthy statement posted on X on Monday morning, Attia expressed his shame over his relationship with Epstein, which was revealed through emails included in the Department of Justice’s latest Epstein files release.
Attia was quick to clarify that he was not involved in any criminal activity related to Epstein, nor did his interactions with Epstein have anything to do with the sexual abuse or exploitation of others. He adamantly stated that he was never on Epstein’s plane, never visited his island, and never attended any sex parties. Despite this, Attia still apologized for his correspondence with Epstein, describing it as embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible.
The latest batch of files from the Department of Justice revealed over 1,700 mentions of Attia, indicating a prolonged back-and-forth with Epstein even after the financier faced charges of sex trafficking and prostitution. In one email to Lesley Groff, a former assistant to Epstein, Attia confessed, “I go into JE withdrawal when I don’t see him.”
On a professional note, CBS News recently named Attia as one of 19 new contributors, as part of editor-in-chief Bari Weiss’ efforts to revamp the program for the modern media landscape. However, Attia’s association with Epstein has sparked significant backlash online, leading to questions about his future as a contributor for CBS News. As of now, CBS has not confirmed whether Attia will retain his position.
Overall, Dr. Peter Attia’s statement regarding his connection to Jeffrey Epstein has stirred up controversy and raised concerns about his credibility as a public figure. It remains to be seen how this revelation will impact his career moving forward.
