In a shocking turn of events, a robber disguised as a grieving individual viciously attacked a Harlem funeral director by brandishing a machete and repeatedly assaulting him to steal his phone and wallet, as per police reports.
The unidentified perpetrator was captured on surveillance footage engaging in a friendly fist bump with the 66-year-old funeral director at Daniels Wilhelmina Funeral Home on February 17. Pretending to be there to make funeral arrangements, the criminal swiftly changed his demeanor and demanded money from the director. He proceeded to punch the victim multiple times in the head and revealed a menacing machete, causing fear and chaos in the office.
The brazen thief managed to snatch the director’s phone and wallet before making a swift escape. Despite the violent ordeal, the director declined any medical attention following the incident.
Further surveillance footage showed the suspect casually walking and conversing with another individual on the street. He was dressed in a light-colored coat over dark pants, along with a shirt and tie, blending into the surroundings as if nothing had happened.
