Two Arrested in Connection with Shooting of West High School Student

Two individuals have been taken into custody on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder following a shooting incident that left a student from West High School wounded. The incident took place on Tuesday and led to the arrest of Jeison Urbina-Mancia, 18, and Gerardo Martinez Navarette, 21. According to Denver police, the suspects were acquainted with the victim, and the shooting is believed to be linked to a previous altercation.

The shooting occurred on Elati Street, causing the school to implement a secure-perimeter status for approximately an hour. Despite initial reports from the Denver police indicating that the victim was not a student, Denver Public Schools spokesperson Scott Pribble later confirmed that the injured individual is an 18-year-old senior at West High School.

Both Urbina-Mancia and Martinez Navarette are currently being held at the Denver downtown detention center as of Saturday afternoon, as per jail records.
