The Bondi Beach attack in Sydney, Australia, shocked the nation when Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid Akram, 50, carried out a deadly shooting during a Jewish event on December 14, 2025. The police investigation revealed disturbing details about the father and son duo’s premeditated plan to carry out the terrorist attack.

According to police allegations, the Akram’s recorded videos outlining their motives for the attack, quoting from the Quran and vowing to target “Zionists” while surrounded by rifles. The video, recorded in October, showed the pair posing in front of an Islamic State flag, expressing their reasons for the Bondi Beach attack.

The police facts also revealed images and recordings from October, where the father and son were seen engaging in firearms training at a countryside location in NSW. The pair meticulously planned the attack for months, including making ISIS-inspired videos, creating ISIS flags, conducting firearms training, making improvised explosive devices, and booking accommodation as a staging post for the attack.

The police facts alleged that the two men were armed with homemade bombs and explosive devices, which they threw towards the crowd at Bondi Beach but did not detonate. The bulky items loaded into their vehicle included shotguns, a rifle, improvised explosive devices, and Islamic State flags.

On the day of the attack, the Akram’s used three firearms to shoot at a large number of people gathered for the Jewish event, killing 15 individuals and injuring 40 others. Sajid Akram was shot and killed by police during the incident, while Naveed Akram was critically injured.

The court lifted the suppression order on the case, allowing the public release of the statement of facts. Naveed Akram has been charged with 59 offenses, including 15 counts of murder and committing a terrorist act. The case has been adjourned until April 2026, with the prosecution of charges against Akram being formally referred to the Commonwealth Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The Bondi Beach attack was a tragic event that left a lasting impact on the community. The details of the premeditated plan and the heinous actions of the Akram’s shed light on the dangers of extremism and the importance of vigilance in preventing such acts of terrorism.
