String of Armed Robberies and Shootings Plague North Side Neighborhoods

Chicago police are currently investigating a series of armed robberies and shootings that have occurred in various North Side neighborhoods over the weekend. The incidents have left residents on edge and authorities working diligently to apprehend the suspects responsible.

Robberies in Ravenswood and Uptown

One of the robberies took place in Ravenswood on Monday around 3:46 a.m. A 24-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint by four masked men who jumped out of a white SUV. The suspects, described as Black males wearing all black clothing and masks, fled the scene with the victim’s belongings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.

Another robbery occurred in Uptown on Sunday at 6:20 p.m. A 20-year-old man was approached by two masked individuals who brandished a gun and demanded his wallet. The robbers fled the scene with the victim’s possessions. One suspect was described as Hispanic and around 5-foot-9, while the other was described as White or Hispanic and approximately 6 feet tall. The victim was unharmed during the altercation.

Violent Robbery in Lakeview

In a particularly disturbing incident, a woman was shot during a robbery in Lakeview late Saturday night. The 35-year-old victim was outside when a man approached her, pulled out a gun, and demanded her belongings. The situation escalated when the offender opened fire, hitting the victim in the lower back and grazing her chin. She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition.

Teen Shot During Robbery in West Rogers Park

In yet another distressing event, a 17-year-old boy was shot and critically injured during a robbery at Stone Scholastic Academy in West Rogers Park. The suspect approached the teen, pulled out a gun, and demanded his phone and backpack. After taking the items, the perpetrator fired a shot that struck the teen’s forearm, chest, and exited his body. The victim was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities believe this robbery may be linked to a similar incident near Damen and Fargo, where a scooter-riding man in all black reportedly robbed another individual. The victim in that case may not have filed a report as they were gone before police arrived.

No Arrests Made Yet

As of now, no arrests have been announced in any of these cases. Chicago police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help prevent further incidents.
