A shocking incident unfolded in the Bronx when a man fatally stabbed a 14-year-old boy in a senseless attack. The suspect, believed to be responsible for another random slashing in a subway station, is now being hunted down by police.
Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed that surveillance video captured the image of the cold-blooded killer, which has been distributed to officers involved in the search for the perpetrator. The tragic incident occurred at around 9:25 a.m. on East 138th Street near Lincoln Avenue in Mott Haven, where Caleb Rios, 14, was standing on the sidewalk when he was brutally stabbed twice in the chest.
Despite being rushed to Lincoln Medical Center, Caleb succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The tragic loss has left the community in shock and mourning.
Interestingly, a Bronx police officer identified the suspect from a previous incident on January 5 at the Third Avenue and 138th Street No. 6 express train station in Mott Haven. During that incident, a 38-year-old man was randomly slashed in the left arm while standing on the steps.
Chief Kenny confirmed that the two incidents are likely connected and were carried out by the same perpetrator. While one person of interest is in custody, the police are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the suspect in the surveillance footage. The suspect is described as 6-foot-one to six-foot-three with a slim build.
