In a surprising turn of events, the liberal publication Politico has expressed its profound disappointment in the Democratic Party’s apparent retreat from climate change activism, particularly in the historically progressive state of California.
This sentiment, however, seems to overlook a rather glaring reality: in recent months, we have witnessed leftist factions resorting to fire as a form of protest—specifically setting ablaze electric vehicles and dealerships during anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles. One must wonder if Politico is aware that the public witnessed these dramatic acts.
How can the left maintain any credibility on climate change when their commitment seems to fizzle the moment they choose to ignite vehicles to underscore a political stance?
From Politico:
Democrats retreat on climate: ‘It’s one of the more disappointing turnabouts’
SACRAMENTO, California — Donald Trump is setting his sights on California’s hallmark climate policies—and it appears California is joining him. Following a series of significant losses in the previous election, the Democratic Party finds itself backpedaling on climate change initiatives. This retreat is particularly stark in the nation’s most populous state, long regarded as a stronghold of progressive environmentalism.
In just the past fortnight, California Democrats have rolled back critical initiatives, including environmental reviews for construction, a cap on oil companies’ profits, and clean fuel mandates. Elected officials are now voicing concerns that ambitious climate laws are exacerbating the already high cost of living in the state, echoing long-standing Republican critiques and frustrating allies who warn that capitulating to political pressure is a dangerous game.
“California was the vocal climate leader during the first Trump administration,” noted Chris Chavez, deputy policy director for the Coalition for Clean Air. “It’s questionable whether or not that leadership is still there.”
Responses on Twitter reflect a mix of disbelief and sarcasm regarding the Democrats’ predicament:
It’s hard to act like you care about the planet while literally torching EV factories. https://t.co/STVSN0m2KF

Democrats finally realize that people dislike rolling blackouts and soaring energy bills. https://t.co/LqFIj4Xc8e

If the Democrats genuinely wish to advocate for climate change, perhaps a good starting point would be to discourage their supporters from engaging in acts of arson. Just a thought.
