A majority of Americans are urging Democrats to put an end to their harmful government shutdown, as revealed by recent findings from a Harvard CAPS/Harris poll.

This comes at a critical time as military personnel and federal workers are about to miss their upcoming paychecks, vital nutritional support for low-income mothers and children is in grave danger, states are bracing for significant economic turmoil, and layoffs may be on the horizon – all tied to Democrats’ problematic push for free healthcare for undocumented immigrants.

Key findings are as follows:

  • 70% are against the government shutdown.
  • 65% believe Democrats should accept a bipartisan, clean continuing resolution proposed by Republicans.
  • 62% think Republicans “will prevail in the government shutdown.”
  • 55% feel Democrats are merely attempting to appease their supporters.
