Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge was highly anticipated after being teased at Unpacked in January and finally launched in May. However, the reception of the S25 Edge has not been as positive as expected. According to The Elec, the performance of the super slim phone has been “below expectations” after a month on the market.

The low demand for the S25 Edge has led Samsung to significantly reduce production, which is uncommon so soon after a device’s release. This could potentially have implications for the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. There were speculations that the S26 Edge might replace the Plus model, resulting in a three-phone lineup for the 2026 series. However, if the sales of the S25 Edge continue to disappoint, Samsung may reconsider its strategy.

There is a possibility that the S26 Edge could be scrapped entirely, with Samsung opting not to release a successor. This decision could be influenced by the lackluster performance of the S25 Edge in the market.

One factor that may have contributed to the poor demand for the S25 Edge is its launch timing. While other Galaxy S25 models were released in February, the S25 Edge kept fans waiting for a longer period. This delay may have affected the excitement and interest surrounding the device.

Another potential reason for the lackluster reception of the S25 Edge could be a misjudgment of market preferences. Despite its impressive slim design and lightweight build, the S25 Edge compromises on battery life, charging speed, and camera capabilities.

Looking ahead, Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 17 Air in September, which could pose competition for devices like the S26 Edge. Samsung could potentially improve the S26 Edge by incorporating silicone carbon battery technology and adding a telephoto lens.

In the meantime, if consumers are looking for alternative Samsung devices, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are set to be unveiled at Unpacked, scheduled for 9 July during Amazon Prime Day. These foldable devices could offer a fresh and innovative option for those seeking a new smartphone experience.

Overall, the future of the Galaxy S26 Edge remains uncertain, but Samsung has the opportunity to address the shortcomings of the S25 Edge and potentially win back consumer interest with upcoming releases.
