Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr have officially been added to the star-studded cast of Apple TV+’s highly anticipated adaptation of Lars Kepler’s “Joona Linna” book series.
The series follows the story of Jonah Lynn, portrayed by Liev Schreiber, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who relocates to a small town in Western Pennsylvania in search of a quieter life. However, his peaceful existence is shattered when a cunning serial killer named Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham, targets the town and Jonah’s family. As Jonah races to protect his loved ones, he is forced to confront Jurek alongside his adopted daughter, FBI agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz.
Carr, known for his roles in “Genius: MLK/X” and “The Peripheral,” will take on the role of Nathan, a forensic investigator who harbors conflicted feelings towards Saga. On the other hand, Jagannathan, recognized for her work in “Deli Boys” and “Lanterns,” will portray Quinn, an FBI agent from D.C. who must rely on Jonah’s guidance while navigating the insular dynamics of the small town.
The talented duo joins an impressive ensemble cast that includes Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, and Chrissy Metz. The “Joona Linna” series, originally penned in Swedish by Lars Kepler, has garnered critical acclaim since its debut in 2009, with the latest installment released in 2024.
Showrunners Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin are at the helm of the adaptation, with acclaimed director Tim Van Patten overseeing the first two episodes. The series boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including the Ahndorils, Schreiber, Beetz, and Oystein Karlsen, among others. Production is slated to kick off this summer in Pittsburgh, with A+E Studios and Range Studios collaborating on the project.
