The shocking incident that occurred at a Brooklyn playground where a 12-year-old boy was stabbed by another 12-year-old has left the community in disbelief. The victim, Khayell Dupree, was critically injured in the attack, which police have classified as attempted murder. The motive behind the stabbing appears to be some ongoing dispute between the two boys, according to Khayell’s mother, Karerja Reed.

Khayell, who is currently in critical but stable condition, was transferred to a specialized pediatric hospital in Queens for further treatment. The knife used in the attack was recovered at the scene, and the alleged attacker was apprehended by the authorities. The suspect will be charged as a juvenile and will face serious felony charges in Family Court.

Describing her son as a happy and loving child who enjoys playing Roblox and has a close bond with his family, Reed expressed her shock and sadness over the violent incident. She emphasized the importance of addressing youth violence and the devastating impact it has on families and communities.

The circumstances leading up to the altercation are still under investigation, but Reed stressed that whatever issues the boys had should never have escalated to such a violent act. She highlighted the need for children to engage in positive activities and enjoy their childhood instead of resorting to violence.

In a separate incident in Queens, two boys aged 13 and 15 were stabbed during a brawl outside a train station. Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The perpetrators, a group of teenagers, fled the scene and had not been apprehended by authorities at the time of reporting.

The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the impact of youth violence on communities and the urgent need for intervention and prevention measures. As families grapple with the aftermath of these senseless acts, it is crucial for authorities and community leaders to work together to address the root causes of such violence and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
