President Declares Emergency in Kentucky Due to Severe Weather Conditions

In a recent announcement, President Donald J. Trump has declared a state of emergency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The declaration comes in response to the severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, and landslides that have plagued the region since February 14, 2025.

As a result of this declaration, the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been authorized to coordinate all disaster relief efforts in order to provide assistance to the affected communities. The primary goal of this assistance is to alleviate the suffering and hardship faced by the local population.

FEMA will be providing the necessary resources and equipment to support emergency measures in all 120 counties of Kentucky. This includes mobilizing personnel and equipment to mitigate the impacts of the emergency and protect lives and property. The Federal funding for emergency protective measures will cover 75% of the costs.

Mr. Jeremy Slinker has been appointed by FEMA to oversee the coordination of Federal recovery operations in the affected areas. For more information, the media is encouraged to contact the FEMA News Desk at (202) 646-3272 or FEMA-NEWS-DESK@FEMA.DHS.GOV.
