RESTORING AMERICA’S NATURAL BEAUTY:

Today, President Donald J. Trump has taken a significant step by signing an Executive Order that establishes the Make America Beautiful Again (MABA) Commission. This initiative aims to conserve our nation’s lands and waters while simultaneously cutting through bureaucratic red tape, all in the name of fostering both conservation and economic growth.

  • The MABA Commission will be led by Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and will include members from President Trump’s Administration.
  • Drawing inspiration from our Nation’s rich heritage, the MABA Commission is dedicated to enhancing recreational access for outdoor enthusiasts—whether they are hunters, anglers, hikers, bikers, climbers, skiers, runners, or any Americans eager to immerse themselves in nature.
  • This newly formed commission has the mission of expanding public access to lands and waters while encouraging voluntary conservation initiatives.
  • By employing high-quality scientific practices, the MABA Commission will advocate for proactive forest management and responsible stewardship of public lands, all while minimizing bureaucratic delays that can jeopardize effective environmental management and threaten our forests and rural communities.

ENHANCING PUBLIC LAND ACCESS:

President Trump’s vision is clear: to safeguard America’s natural beauty and enhance outdoor recreational opportunities for generations to come.

  • The Roosevelt Arch at Yellowstone National Park famously declares that America’s public lands are “for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.” Thus, the MABA Commission is poised to broaden access to our nation’s breathtaking landscapes for all Americans to enjoy.
  • The outdoor recreation economy contributes an impressive $1.2 trillion in economic output and supports 5 million jobs across the country.
  • Under the previous Administration, access to public lands for outdoor activities was unnecessarily restricted, hindering responsible hunting and fishing in several regions.
  • Years of mismanagement have caused a decline in public access to and enjoyment of outdoor recreational areas, undermining the spirit of adventure that defines the American experience.

The MABA Commission aims to build upon the enduring legacy of conservationists like President Teddy Roosevelt, working to safeguard our nation’s invaluable natural treasures.

  • During President Trump’s first term, his administration achieved more recoveries of endangered or threatened species than any other administration in its initial term.
  • He championed the Great American Outdoors Act, marking the largest investment in America’s national parks and public lands in history—a monumental leap forward in conservation policy reminiscent of Teddy Roosevelt’s era.
  • Throughout his first term, President Trump’s administration designated 1.3 million new acres as wilderness, added 1,645 miles of new trails to the National Recreational Trails System, and expanded hunting and fishing opportunities across over 2.3 million acres.
  • President Trump has consistently sought to protect American industries while ensuring that we maintain some of the cleanest air and water globally.
