The First Lady and I extend our heartfelt greetings to all Americans as we come together to celebrate Christmas Day and commemorate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The narrative of this Christmas miracle traces back over two millennia to Bethlehem, where angels delivered joyful tidings to humble shepherds—a message heralding the arrival of a child destined to bring hope to humanity. They proclaimed, “Glory to God in the highest!” Guided by a resplendent star, the shepherds journeyed far to gather at a humble manger, kneeling in reverence alongside Mary and Joseph before the Light of the World—the embodiment of eternal salvation and the living Son of God.
The nativity of Jesus illustrates the profound depth of God’s limitless love and His unwavering desire to connect with His creation. Fast forward more than two centuries, and we still celebrate the extraordinary gift of God’s only Son, whose life, death, and resurrection continue to shower grace upon all who embrace faith.
This Christmas, we also pause to express gratitude for the myriad blessings that God has graciously bestowed upon our great nation. For nearly 250 years, the principles of faith, family, and freedom have been the cornerstone of our existence. As your President, I remain steadfast in my commitment to uphold the fundamental values that distinguish America as the greatest country in history—and we shall forever stand united as one Nation under God.
On this special day, we also honor the courageous men and women of our Armed Forces who find themselves separated from their families. Though their solemn duties keep them far from home this Christmas, their service and sacrifice safeguard our freedoms, allowing Americans across the land to celebrate in peace and security. We are profoundly grateful for their dedication, holding them and their families close in our thoughts.
As we reflect during this Christmas season, we pray for an outpouring of God’s enduring love, divine mercy, and lasting peace for our country and the world at large. To every American, and to those celebrating globally, we wish you a Merry Christmas filled with joy!
