Today, I extend my warmest greetings to the countless individuals of Asian heritage in the United States and across the globe who are celebrating the Lunar New Year and embracing the Year of the Horse.
The Lunar New Year is a time-honored celebration steeped in gratitude and joy. It serves as an opportunity to recognize the blessings brought by family and friends, to reflect on the achievements and hurdles of the previous year, and to look ahead with anticipation and renewed optimism. All around the world, communities welcome the Lunar New Year with vibrant fireworks, lively festivals, traditional music, sumptuous feasts, and gatherings that fortify family ties and community spirit. It is also an appropriate moment to honor the significant contributions of numerous legendary Asian Americans who have enriched our culture, economy, and way of life.
Traditionally, the horse symbolizes momentum, vitality, passion, freedom, and adventure—qualities that have characterized our nation throughout its remarkable 250 years of independence. This Lunar New Year, we celebrate these enduring values and carry them forward as we strive to enhance America’s Golden Age. As families, friends, and communities come together to usher in the Lunar New Year, the First Lady and I join in wishing you a year brimming with health, happiness, fortune, and tranquility.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
