Celebrating Female Athletes: A Commitment to Excellence

From youth leagues to the Olympic stage, women and girls have long personified the pinnacle of American sportsmanship. On this National Women and Girls in Sports Day, we honor each female athlete for their relentless pursuit of excellence and their significant contributions to the fabric of American culture, character, and competitive spirit.

The Promise of Equality in Sports

Fueled by the ideals of the American Dream, every individual can realize their inherent potential—on any field, court, or track—through hard work, perseverance, and resilience. The passage of Title IX in the 1970s represented a seismic shift in the landscape of athletic opportunity, ensuring equal access for women and girls in sports. This landmark legislation has led to an impressive increase in female athletes, and my administration is unwavering in its dedication to further enhancing opportunities for women and girls at all levels of competition.

Policies to Protect and Empower

Since taking office as the 47th President of the United States, I have championed youth athletics, which not only helps our girls cultivate essential skills but also encourages them to thrive both as athletes and as proactive citizens. Last year, I signed several Executive Orders reinforcing Title IX, aimed at preventing unfair participation of men in women’s sports while protecting and expanding scholarship opportunities for collegiate female athletes. The guiding principle of my administration is clear: any organization that disregards biological realities and compromises women’s rights to fair and safe athletic opportunities will not receive federal funding. Under my leadership, the safety, dignity, and hard work of women will always be our priority.

Inspiration Beyond the Finish Line

Female athletes do more than just shatter records and claim titles; they redefine the boundaries of possibility, elevate their respective sports, and motivate the next generation of girls to aspire toward greatness. Today, and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the invaluable lessons that sports impart, striving to create a future where every young girl, collegiate athlete, and professional competitor is inspired to push their limits, reach new heights, and dream without restraint.
