Today marks a remarkable milestone: the 35th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope, a shining example of American innovation and scientific prowess.
Since its launch in 1990, Hubble has transformed our understanding of the cosmos, pushing the boundaries of scientific inquiry and revealing the universe’s secrets that once seemed unreachable. From uncovering the existence of supermassive black holes to refining our estimates of the universe’s age, Hubble has delivered over 1.5 million observations. It has evolved beyond a mere scientific instrument to become a symbol of America’s leadership in exploration and discovery.
Inspired by the legacy of Hubble, my Administration is dedicated to ensuring that America remains at the forefront of space exploration. During my first term, I took the initiative to revive the National Space Council, effectively reinstating space policy as a national priority. Under my guidance, the Federal Government is unwavering in its commitment to partner with private industries, ensuring that America stays on the cutting edge of cosmic discoveries. When we take the lead, the world takes notice, and I have no doubt that no challenge is insurmountable—including the ambitious goal of planting the Stars and Stripes on Mars.
As we celebrate Hubble’s 35 years of achievement, we pay tribute to the exceptional scientists, engineers, and visionaries who made this incredible journey possible. Their bravery and ingenuity remind us all to embrace risks, dream without limits, and pioneer new paths into the unknown. With this adventurous spirit guiding us, we will secure the future of space exploration for our Nation, pursuing our manifest destiny into the farthest reaches of the universe.
