Today, I extend my warmest wishes to everyone gathered at Churchill Downs for the 152nd Kentucky Derby, the oldest sporting event in our Nation that has run continuously. This event is a celebrated emblem of American strength, excellence, and grandeur.
This year, as we mark 250 years of American independence, the Kentucky Derby remains a lasting symbol of tradition, culture, and the triumph of the American spirit. Just as the Thoroughbreds charge down the track with determination and resilience, our Nation has consistently risen to face challenges, overcome obstacles, and achieve remarkable success.
As the event known as “the most exciting two minutes in sports” gets underway, I hope all Americans enjoy a thrilling and memorable “run for the roses.” May this historic race continue to inspire pride in our shared heritage, and may the finest horse emerge victorious!
