Celebrating the Sixth Anniversary of the United States Space Force
On December 20, 2019, I proudly announced the inception of the United States Space Force—our nation’s vanguard among the stars, marking it as the sixth branch of our Armed Forces. Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable Guardians who serve with unwavering dedication, safeguarding our populace, our homeland, and the cherished way of life that defines us, all while venturing into the great unknown beyond our atmosphere.
From the very beginning of space exploration, America has taken the lead in technological advancement, innovation, and exploration. Each day, the valiant members of the Space Force honor this legacy with unmatched skill and commitment, ensuring that the United States remains vigilant against threats that arise both on Earth and in the vastness beyond. Through their selfless dedication, these Guardians reinforce America’s dominance in space, countering potential threats from adversaries, providing essential space capabilities such as satellite communications, navigation, and missile defense. This, in turn, empowers our robust economy and formidable military. The Space Force is essential not only for bolstering our economy but also for defending our homeland and enhancing our military strength, thereby upholding our security, sovereignty, and way of life.
The establishment of the United States Space Force was a bold move by my first Administration, aimed at fortifying America’s capacity to compete, deter, and triumph in the cosmos. With adversaries keen on undermining our space capabilities through the development of counterspace weaponry, the high frontier has emerged as a crucial arena of modern warfare. Consequently, America’s Guardians, along with the civilian personnel supporting their mission, are vital in addressing these challenges. This includes the advancement and deployment of the Golden Dome, a state-of-the-art missile defense shield designed to protect our citizens and critical infrastructure from aerial threats—an initiative backed by funding from this year’s landmark One Big Beautiful Bill. Our strong leadership has inspired a wave of enthusiasm, resulting in the Space Force exceeding its recruitment targets three months ahead of schedule this summer. When America leads in space, America prevails—and our military remains the most powerful, respected, and effective force across all theaters of combat.
As Commander in Chief, I stand with the nation in commemorating the sixth birthday of the United States Space Force. Our Guardians are instrumental in keeping our country secure, resilient, and free, both on land and in the boundless expanse of space. For their service and sacrifices, we offer our deepest gratitude.
Semper Supra!
