Today, we celebrate Americans with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), whose unique abilities, character, and perseverance contribute to the strength of our Nation and the enrichment of our communities.

Each child is created with inherent dignity, purpose, and worth. The lives of individuals with autism showcase these truths by bringing joy, insight, and inspiration to their families, communities, and the country. My Administration is dedicated to providing individuals with autism the support and resources necessary to achieve their fullest potential.

We are committed to enhancing the lives of those with ASD and their families by advancing research, expanding resources, and collaborating with communities to better understand their needs. Additionally, we are heightening awareness of early autism signs and promoting timely screenings to support children as soon as possible. These initiatives help families access care, enhance support within schools, and ensure every child has a chance to succeed.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the prevalence of autism, with 1 in 32 children now identified on the spectrum. Last year, I established the Make America Healthy Again Commission, and in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, we are investing in extensive research to deepen our understanding of autism and explore potential treatments. We are also funding research into possible causes and risk factors to safeguard the health and well-being of future generations.

On this Autism Awareness Day, we reaffirm our commitment to broadening understanding, supporting families, and ensuring children with autism receive the necessary care. We will continue to build a future where every individual is valued and has the opportunity to realize their own American Dream.
