In an exciting development, Fiona Shaw has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Season 2 of “Presumed Innocent”, according to a report from Variety.

Shaw will be sharing the screen with the previously confirmed lead actress Rachel Brosnahan, as well as Matthew Rhys, Courtney B. Vance, and Jack Reynor. The inaugural season of the show, which premiered on Apple TV+ in 2024, drew its narrative from Scott Turow’s novel of the same name. The second season will adapt “Dissection of a Murder,” a novel by Jo Murray set to be released in 2026.

While specific plot details and character arcs remain undisclosed, the synopsis provided by Pan Macmillan describes the intriguing premise, stating: “When Leila Reynolds (Brosnahan) is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at its high profile; it involves the murder of a well-respected judge. This is a case that exceeds her expertise, but the defendant, Jack Millman, is insistent — he wants her, and only her.”

This role marks Fiona Shaw’s second collaboration with Apple TV+, following her performance in the acclaimed dark comedy “Bad Sisters.” Shaw is celebrated for her outstanding work in television, with two Emmy nominations for her portrayals in “Killing Eve” and “Fleabag.” Her recent television credits also include notable series like “True Detective: Night Country,” “Andor,” and “Baptiste.” Additionally, she is recognized in film for her performances in the “Harry Potter” series, “My Left Foot,” and “Enola Holmes.” As a distinguished stage actress, Shaw boasts multiple Olivier Awards and a Tony Award nomination to her name.

Shaw is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

David E. Kelley is the creative force behind “Presumed Innocent,” acting as the developer, executive producer, and co-showrunner under his banner, David E. Kelley Productions (DEKP). Also serving as co-showrunner and executive producer for Season 2 is Erica Lipez. J.J. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich are executive producers through Bad Robot Productions. Additional executive producers include Matthew Tinker of DEKP, Jake Gyllenhaal, who starred in the first season, and Dustin Thomason, alongside Brosnahan. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

The first season of “Presumed Innocent” debuted in June 2024 to both critical acclaim and public enthusiasm, garnering four Emmy nominations: Best Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series (Gyllenhaal), and three nominations for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series (Bill Camp & Peter Sarsgaard, and Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series (Ruth Negga).
