Last month, I struggled to stay cool during the UK’s intense heatwave, finding it difficult to effectively lower the temperature in my home.
This week, even with rising temperatures across much of the country, I feel surprisingly comfortable (in a literal sense) about the situation.
The reason? The excellent Dreo misting tower fan, which has been a great aid in my daily activities, from work to sleep.
Introduced earlier this month at a reasonable price of £199.99/$199.99, it is now available for £169.99/$169.98 during Amazon’s Prime Day sale. This 15% discount marks its lowest price yet.
In the US, the deal requires a Prime subscription and is scheduled to end at 11:59pm on 26 June, or sooner if it sells out. In the UK, the offer isn’t exclusive to Prime members, but given the current weather, quick action is advised.
What the Dreo misting tower fan has to offer
The Dreo TurboCool Misting Fan 765S, known by its full name, employs a dual approach to cooling.
First, it functions as a standard tower fan with twelve intensity levels and broad oscillation. It operates quietly, and in Sleep mode at lower levels, the motor is almost inaudible at 20dB, ideal for restful sleep.
Its standout feature, setting it apart from most fans, is the misting function. Utilizing a refillable water tank at the base, the 765S emits fine mist streams from both sides of the fan grilles. This mist evaporates upon contact with warm air through evaporative cooling.

Dreo claims the fan can lower the surrounding temperature by up to 6°C. While I can’t confirm this exactly, I did feel significantly cooler beside it, even feeling a bit chilly in my home office while it was 30°C outside.
If you choose to keep the misting feature running continuously, Dreo states it can last over 24 hours on lower settings. Since it’s mains-powered, battery life isn’t a concern. It also boasts an intuitive companion app with detailed scheduling options and is fully compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control.

It’s important to clarify that the 765S is not a dehumidifier. While you can set a humidity target, it’s merely a precaution to prevent excess water vapor in the air. Using it in a well-ventilated space is advisable to avoid creating a steam room effect, as I learned firsthand.
Why it’s a good deal
With the ongoing UK heatwave and more hot weather forecasted for the summer, a simple fan might not suffice.
While air conditioning units can be costly and complex to install and operate, the Dreo offers a more economical alternative. According to The Guardian, it costs just 2p per hour to run, making it an excellent value.
Though the initial purchase price is substantial, it represents a great investment for such an effective cooling solution, likely earning gratitude from your future self.
