Pullman Yards, a historic 27-acre site located in Atlanta’s Kirkwood neighborhood, is undergoing a transformation into a vibrant arts and entertainment district. Co-founders Adam Rosenfelt and Maureen Meulen, both veterans of the film industry, are leading the charge in turning Pullman Yards into a creative hub. They have recently announced a new residency program to support artists working in film, visual arts, and new media.

The residency program at Pullman Yards aims to provide artists with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in their work for six to ten weeks. The program will host one regional artist and one visiting artist from the US or abroad in each of the two annual cohorts. Residents will have access to private housing, studio space, a $500 weekly stipend, transportation support, and professional development opportunities. They will also have the chance to engage with curators, collectors, and industry leaders during their residency.

Applicants for the residency program must demonstrate a commitment to experimentation and community engagement in their work. The program culminates in an open studio day where residents can share their works-in-progress with the public.

This new initiative at Pullman Yards adds to the site’s existing creative offerings, including a culinary incubator and a site-specific mural series called Pieces of Pullman. The residency program also pays homage to the site’s rich history, from its origins as a manufacturing facility in 1904 to its role in the civil rights movement and its more recent use as a filming location for major productions like The Hunger Games and Baby Driver.

Applications for the residency program are currently being accepted, with a deadline of July 31, 2025. A jury of cultural leaders, including Art Paper’s Sarah Higgins, 21c Museum Hotels’ Alice Gray Stites, collectors Hassan Smith and Kent Kelley, and filmmaker Craig Zobel, will review the applications. Selected artists will be announced in September.
