A close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has put forth a shocking proposal to construct replicas of iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and the White House in the Arctic, only to destroy them with nuclear weapons. Alexei Mikhailov, a Russian propagandist and head of the Bureau of Political-Military Analysis, unveiled this alarming plan as a demonstration of strength against the West in response to Britain’s support for Ukraine.
The scheme involves building plywood replicas of London and Washington, D.C. on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, a location historically used by the Soviet Union for nuclear testing. Mikhailov detailed his vision to launch a Bulava missile from a submarine in the Atlantic Ocean to obliterate the mock cities, with the destruction broadcasted online as a warning to the West to cease its backing of Ukraine.
During a televised broadcast, Mikhailov expressed his belief that Western powers, particularly the Anglo-Saxons, were seeking a large-scale war and accused Britain of arming Ukraine with long-range precision weapons to engage in direct conflict with Russia. The proposed replicas of London and Washington, D.C. would be targeted with over 150 kilotons of TNT equivalent to showcase the potential devastation that could be unleashed on real cities with a single warhead from the Bulava missile.
Despite skepticism from the TV host about the feasibility of the plan, Mikhailov remained adamant that the replicas could be constructed by thousands of migrants and set ablaze with a dramatic display of destruction. The Bulava missile, a key component of Russia’s nuclear arsenal with a range of 5,160 miles and the capability to carry multiple nuclear warheads, symbolizes the country’s military might.
Novaya Zemlya, known for its history as a Soviet nuclear testing ground during the Cold War, was the location of the Tsar Bomba test in 1961, the most powerful nuclear explosion ever recorded. Mikhailov’s controversial proposal has sparked widespread condemnation for its reckless and provocative nature, underscoring the escalating tensions between Russia and the West in the midst of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The potential consequences of such a drastic plan have raised alarm bells internationally, with many viewing it as a dangerous escalation of hostilities that could have devastating repercussions. As geopolitical tensions continue to rise, the world watches with concern as the situation unfolds between Russia and the Western powers.
