During her visit, the Queen was seen sharing a laugh with President Donald Trump, 80, and First Lady Melania Trump, 56, at the White House. She also engaged with Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker at the New York Public Library.
A royal source revealed: “Camilla returned from America with a newfound confidence in her status, both within the monarchy and among the public.
“She had long been aware that Kate draws a level of enthusiasm and affection that can eclipse others in the family. However, the warm reception Camilla experienced in the US has significantly altered her perspective.
“She realized that people were truly interested in her for who she is, not just as the King’s wife. She witnessed her ability to generate headlines and goodwill on her own. After years of concern about competing with Kate’s popularity, Camilla now feels she has carved out her own place in the public’s heart and effectively won her popularity contest with Kate.
“She feels that the perceived gap between them has significantly narrowed, and privately, she feels she has finally won that particular contest.”
This successful US visit occurred three years after Camilla was crowned alongside Charles following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
Camilla faced the significant challenge of establishing herself after Elizabeth’s 70-year reign, while Catherine, Princess of Wales, 44, enjoyed significant public admiration.
