R. Kelly, now a convicted sex offender, subjected Reshona Landfair to years of torment from the age of 13 to 26. In a new tell-all memoir, Landfair exposes the harrowing experiences she endured at the hands of the disgraced R&B artist.
RadarOnline.com reports that after initially identifying herself as Jane Doe in court, Landfair reclaims her narrative in Who’s Watching Shorty? Reclaiming Myself From the Shame of R. Kelly’s Abuse. The book reveals the beginning of their relationship when she was just 12, escalating to grooming and sexual abuse by Kelly within a year.
Landfair accuses Kelly, who was 30 at the time and whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, of luring her into phone sex, instructing her to engage in explicit conversations and self-touch.
“He reassured me that what we were doing was natural,” she wrote.
Landfair, now 41, recounted losing her virginity to Kelly and being coerced into threesomes with other minors.
“Whenever I questioned his requests or even hesitated to comply, Robert … would get me back in line,” she wrote.
Kelly allegedly appeased Landfair with gifts and outings, yet imposed stringent rules. She was nicknamed “angel” and required to call him “Daddy,” avoid eye contact with other men, dress conservatively, and seek permission for basic actions like using the bathroom.
Rumors about Kelly’s disturbing behavior persisted until a sex tape featuring a 14-year-old Landfair surfaced in 2001.
In the video, the I Believe I Can Fly singer is seen urinating on the intoxicated, nude minor.
Landfair disclosed that Kelly, now 59, documented their encounters.
“I was very scared and ashamed,” she said regarding the tape that emerged when she was 16.
During a six-year child pornography trial, Kelly kept Landfair hidden on his tour bus, isolating her from family and media. Despite these measures, he was acquitted in 2008.
“Once the trial was complete, Robert was done with me,” Landfair, who is now a school health counselor, recalled of their separation in 2009. “He no longer needed me to lie or keep his secrets.”
