Raquel Allegra is embracing the power of ‘yes’ in her latest spring collection. During a recent Zoom call, she shared her inspiration behind the collection, stating, “The idea of the collection is that feeling of ‘yes.’ Your body’s cellular response to the word ‘yes,’ and the power that I believe carries internally and externally as you live your life saying yes to your heart, to your desire, and to your truth.”
This season, Allegra has curated a tightly edited lineup with her signature ease, but in a more pared-back manner. “We’ve made the collection smaller than ever before; it’s 20 styles and that’s it,” she explained. By focusing on a limited number of styles, each piece holds significant meaning. While this approach presented challenges in taking risks, Allegra strategically incorporated bold elements into the collection.
One standout piece is a black linen suit featuring an all-over print designed to mimic sun-worn fabric. With raw hems and stitched details that give the illusion of mending, the suit exudes a sense of history and character. Additionally, a pair of slim trousers with gathered hems creates a trompe l’oeil effect, appearing as if they were shibori-dyed. Allegra notes the difficulty in achieving this look with proper indigo dye, emphasizing the craftsmanship behind each garment.
Allegra’s cashmere sweaters showcase hand-embroidered naive hearts and the word ‘yes,’ symbolizing a commitment to following one’s heart. “You have your heart on your sleeve; the idea is to say yes to your heart,” she explains. This intimate detail adds a personal touch to the collection, reinforcing the theme of embracing positivity and authenticity.
