The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo is back in the spotlight following the emergence of her past remarks regarding a purported robbery, coinciding with her and her husband Eddie Osefo‘s recent arrest on fraud allegations.
In a September 2024 episode of the “Gabbing With Gib” podcast, Wendy, aged 41, recounted the incident, saying, “I believe it occurred just before we started filming, literally right before the cameras rolled. It happened while my family was away on spring break. We were on a trip with the kids, and I felt utterly devastated.”
Wendy expressed that the emotional impact of the alleged robbery, which she stated happened in April 2024, made her feel “uneasy” during her initial scenes on the Bravo series.
“It felt as if we were violated, to put it bluntly,” she elaborated. “It was unexpected and downright horrifying, particularly because both I and the investigator believed it was a targeted act.”
Having resided in her neighborhood for over two decades without any crime, Wendy expressed her disbelief at the event. “In more than 20 years, there hasn’t been a single burglary. It’s devastating; my priority has always been the safety of my kids,” she shared.
The neighborhood choice was specifically for her children’s well-being, as she and Eddie are parents to Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6. “This area is meant for their safety, a space where they can run and play freely without concern. When someone trespasses into your sacred home, you begin to question everything,” Wendy remarked.
Thankfully, Wendy noted that her family was “safe” and moving on from the “heart-wrenching” event. She acknowledged that she would implement more safety measures going forward.
“Now, my home feels like Fort Knox. Even our vacations and how I share on social media have changed drastically. It’s transformed how I conduct myself. You wish to live life without fear, but sadly that’s not realistic anymore,” Wendy reflected.
On October 9, a grand jury indicted Wendy and Eddie with multiple charges, including insurance fraud and making false statements to police. Court records obtained by Us Weekly indicate the couple was booked in Westminster, Maryland, with a bail set at $50,000, and they were released on October 10.
The Osefos previously reported that various designer items and jewelry had been stolen from their home during the alleged April burglary. However, it was later revealed that Wendy was seen wearing one of the purportedly stolen jewelry pieces on social media.
After an investigation, it was revealed that items Wendy and Eddie had reported as stolen had been bought and then returned for refunds prior to the alleged burglary. Prosecutors claim the couple falsely asserted a loss of personal property worth $450,000 to their insurance provider.
Following their arrest, Wendy and Eddie issued a statement through their representative.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, have returned home to their family and are in high spirits. They appreciate the support and concern from friends, fans, and colleagues,” their representative told Us Weekly on Friday. “The Osefos, along with their legal team, anticipate their upcoming court appearance. They respectfully request privacy as they focus on their family and the legal matters ahead.”
