REinvent, Scandinavia’s leading sales outfit, has recently boarded the production of Norway’s true crime series “Escaping Bolivia.” The series is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa, following an initial shoot in Oslo.

Produced by Fenomen and 4 œ for TV2 Norway, in co-production with Germany’s NDR and Oslo Film Fund, “Escaping Bolivia” is helmed by director Anna Gutto, known for Lionsgate’s “Paradise Highway.” The series stars Jakob Oftebro, Ella Øverbye, Josephine Tetlie, Lisa Hovden, and Danish actor Joachim Fjelstrup.

The story is inspired by the real-life case of three Norwegian girls who were imprisoned in Bolivia after being caught with 22kg of cocaine in their bags. Two of the girls managed to escape with the help of a journalist, while the third remained behind bars. The series follows Ida, her sister-in-law Michelle, and Ida’s lover Cecilie as they face the consequences of their actions and plan their escape from one of the world’s most dangerous female prisons.

Creator and episodic writer Emily Beck, known for Netflix’s “Royalteen,” co-penned the story with Helena Nielsen and Ingrid HaukelidsĂŠter. Beck expressed her excitement for the series, which has been in development for eight years, stating that it will touch on themes of friendship, betrayal, love, and the sacrifices one makes for those they care about.

Helene AurĂž, REinvent’s sales and marketing director, expressed pride in picking up “Escaping Bolivia,” calling it an amazing story that deserves to be told. The series is expected to resonate with audiences worldwide and is set for delivery in late 2025.

In addition to “Escaping Bolivia,” REinvent’s Mipcom slate includes the Finnish thriller drama “L/over” and two Icelandic shows, “Reykjavik 112” and “Vigdis.” “L/over” is the first live-action fiction show initiated by Marika Makaroff, while “Reykjavik 112” is based on best-selling novelist Yrsa SigurdardĂłttir’s work. “Vigdis” is a biopic about Iceland’s former president, VigdĂs FinnbogadĂłttir, created by the team behind “Blackport.”

With a diverse and captivating lineup of content, REinvent is poised to make a splash in the global market with its high-quality productions.
