What lies ahead for the children of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky? Already regarded as fashion icons, Rza, age 3, Riot, age 2, and Rocki Irish, at 7 months, have the worlds of fashion and music at their disposal. They’re already showing signs of artistic flair.
Rihanna’s latest tattoo, inspired by her children, was crafted with the help of celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang (real name Keith McCurdy). He revealed that the new ink was “designed by her babies,” and shared videos of the tattoo creation process on May 8. This event closely followed Rihanna and Rocky’s appearance at the Met Gala, where Rihanna donned a swirling Margiela couture gown and sported “living sculpture” hair, suggesting art was on her mind.
The tattoo features a purple, red, yellow, green, and blue scribble, embodying abstract expressionism. In a video on Bang Bang’s Instagram, the artist is seen working from the original artwork, a paper adorned with Paw Patrol stickers, which Rihanna opted not to include on her tattoo, keeping it simple. The tattoo is located on the back of her left upper leg.
In one clip, Rihanna remarks, “The torture I’ve endured in this shop.” In another, with her face hidden by large sunglasses and a hoodie, she instructs, “Make sure my ass looks good in the main shots.”
This isn’t Rihanna’s first collaboration with Bang Bang. He has inked at least nine of her tattoos, including a shark on her ankle from 2016, later covered with a crown, and “rebelle fleur” on her neck. Her most notable tattoo, cascading stars down her neck and back, is also his work.
The pop star and beauty entrepreneur has approximately 25 tattoos, each with personal significance, tributes, or elements of fun and humor. Her tattoos range from small symbols like a music note and pistol to the expansive wings of the Egyptian Goddess Isis across her chest, a homage to her grandmother Dolly. Some tattoos, like “thug life” on her knuckles and “shhh” on her finger, have faded over time.
