Next week, Aurora Energy is set to enhance the electricity network in Dunedin’s CBD with the installation of a 480m underground duct to accommodate two new cables. The underground duct will stretch along Rattray St, running from Princes St to Vogel St at Queens Gardens.

During the installation process, traffic management measures will be implemented, and temporary road closures will be necessary. Road closures are scheduled from 8pm-6am on Sunday to Tuesday along SH1 (Crawford St and Queens Gardens). Detours for light vehicles will be clearly marked via Princes St and Dowling St.

For heavy vehicles, Aurora Energy advises taking the Cumberland St overbridge detour (SH1 — Jetty St — Wharf St — Thomas Burns St — SH88 — SH1). If required, the works may extend to Wednesday and Thursday nights, with updates provided by Aurora Energy.
